HPRA’s venue, the Fairmont Hotel, is located a few blocks from the famous West 6th street, uniquely located in downtown Austin amid the greenery of Palm Park and Waller Creek. Sixth Street is a historic street and entertainment district in Austin, Texas, located within the city's urban core in downtown Austin. Sixth Street was known for its bars and music back in the 1800s when it was Pecan Street. After the American Civil War Armstrong Custer and his soldiers were stationed in the Texas capitol, they found entertainment at the bars clustered along the street.

Directions from the nearest airport, Austin Bergstrom International Airport:

From Presidential Blvd take TX-71 W.

Then take I-35 N/US-290 E to N I-35 Frontage Road.

Exit 234B, follow to E 1st St/E Cesar Chavez St. to Red River St.

Please note that the City of Austin has issued a no-left turn onto Red River Street when heading East on East Cesar Chavez Street. To enter Fairmont Austin’s front entrance, please turn left on Trinity Street, which is one block before Red River Street. Please ensure that you follow this route detour to avoid the $500 fine as enforced by the City of Austin.

World Famous Congress Bridge Bats

Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge is home to the world's largest urban bat colony, which is composed of Mexican free-tailed bats. The bats reside beneath the road deck in gaps between the concrete component structures. They are migratory, spending their summers in Austin and the winters in Mexico. According to Bat Conservation International, between 750,000 and 1.5 million bats reside underneath the bridge each summer.

The Capitol grounds comprise of about 22 acres in the heart of downtown Austin. Featuring 17 monuments, historic buildings and trees, and beautifully landscaped lawns, the grounds are a great place to explore, enjoy a picnic or learn more about the history of Texas.

West 6th Street

Sixth Street is a historic street and entertainment district in Austin, Texas, located within the city's urban core in downtown Austin.[2] Sixth Street was formerly named Pecan Street. 6th Street has been a major entertainment district since the 1970s. Many bars, clubs, music venues, and shopping destinations are located on East 6th Street between Congress Avenue and Interstate 35.

Lady Bird Lake

One of Austin's most redeeming natural features is a placid river named "Lady Bird Lake" that separates South Austin from the rest of North Austin. Get on the lake early in the morning for some kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, or even sculling. There's also a well-groomed trail that runs alongside of it for you to jog/walk/ride with some of the most scenic views of the city.

Barton Creek Greenbelt

The Barton Creek Greenbelt is so beloved that locals commonly refer to it as “the Greenbelt,” as if it were the only one. Located in south-central Austin, the Barton Creek Greenbelt contains 12.68 miles of gorgeous trails, with the main trail spanning about 7 miles. This particular greenbelt is considered one of the top hiking trails in Texas.

But this area is not only for hiking. One of the city’s most prized attractions, the Barton Creek Greenbelt is filled with mountain biking trails and beautiful limestone bluffs for rock climbing. And when there’s enough water in the creek, there are several swimming holes locals like to enjoy.
