Luis Latozefsky
Stetson University
2026 ¡Bravo! Scholarship Winner
Luis David Latozefsky is a political science student at Stetson University and a passionate advocate for Hispanic representation, civic engagement, and public speaking. A Venezuelan immigrant, Luis discovered his voice through competitive speech and debate, becoming a national finalist at the NSDA, Harvard, and NCFL National Championships and a champion at the Florida Blue Key National Tournament. He founded his county high school’s first Hispanic Debate Society, creating opportunities for Latino and multilingual students to develop their voices through speech and debate. That led to the American Dream Program, a statewide initiative that has increased participation among hundreds of students in Florida and built civic knowledge.
At Stetson, Luis is a Bonner Scholar and Florida Debate Initiative Fellow, where he is exploring the intersection of civic education and public policy. He hopes to use his voice to expand opportunities for underrepresented communities and pursue a career in public service.
